Want to read before you buy? Want to just read and not buy? Pick your poison because the great wedding people at iVillage have posted three excerpts from The Groom’s Instruction Manual. Use them wisely.
“How to Plan the Perfect Honeymoon”
3. Know What You Want
And by that we really mean “know what your fiancee wants.” You may have grand plans for a golf vacation or an outdoor adventure, but if the brand-new missus isn’t down with that, you are heading for disaster.
“How to Book a Wedding Band or DJ”
Don’t Sneer at Wedding Bands
Sure, they’re cheesy. They play the same venues every Friday and Saturday night, playing “Hot! Hot! Hot!” and “All Night Long” over and over again. But here’s the thing: You want the cheese. Nay, you need the cheese.
“A Guide to Grooming the Groom”
Digestion
Watch out for anything before the ceremony that could send your bowels into overdrive. Nobody likes a gassy groom.
Congratulations! If you’re reading this it must mean that you or somebody close to you is getting married. Or perhaps you’re already married and you’re just looking to relive those glorious, totally stress-free days before you and your wife/husband said “I do.” Or perhaps you’re just one of my parents and you’re here to lend support. Hi Mom!
No matter what you’re reasons, I hope you find this book as helpful as I would have if I’d had it when I was engaged. Our goal was to create an entertaining, informative, and wonderfully illustrated guide for grooms who don’t strictly think “it’s her big day, not mine” but rather understand that even though it’s a bigger day for the bride, the groom is more than just eye candy. Our role is all about, as the Boy Scouts taught us, being prepared.
Be sure to check here regularly for updates on upcoming book signings and other appearances, media coverage, and maybe even some advice that’ll keep you from embarrassment and perhaps jail time. Plus, if you have any questions or just want to say hello, my email is always on because, well, because that’s just how email works.
Congratulations again, and best of luck on a wedding and engagement you’ll always remember… for all the right reasons.
Sincerely,
Shandon Fowler
